The writer has conducted the investigation to assess the nutritional status of young rural children aged from 0 to 4 years old in August 1971. The survey areas were Kaejongmyon and Daeya-myon, Okka-gun, Jeonrabukdo, Korea. These survey areas were typical agricultural plain areas. The total numbers of children examined were 2,706 comprising 1,394 male and 1, 312 female. The weight and height of children were measured and the´ nutritional status of each child:: was :classified by the four -levels ´. of malnutrition and the Gomez Classification. After giving nutrition education and supplementary food for 2 years, the writer has conducted another investigation on nutritional
status of the same children in August 1973 to compare with the former results obtained in 1971.
